Vales
As a mark of respect, upon the passing of a Service Member, our Sub-Branch places a Vale, or Death, Notice into the Public Notices of the Melbourne Herald-Sun newspaper. Additionally, we would wish to inform our members of his or her passing on our website. Should your departed loved one have been a current Sub-Branch member, please keep in mind that we would deem it a great privilege to honour his or her memory in this manner, as well being able to publicly extend our condolences and that we can be contacted on ph (03) 8558 4700 with this in mind.
Funeral Eulogies
Additionally, we would also be privileged to be able to advise our members of your loved ones passing on our website and to deliver an RSL eulogy at his or her funeral service. The eulogy is a last tribute to ex-service men and women who served their Country, The Commonwealth and their fellow members of the RSL.
The eulogy will only be conducted with the express consent of the relatives of the deceased member. All that we require is for you to make contact with us on (03) 8558 4700 providing us with brief details of where and when the funeral service will be held as well as undertaker and clergy or celebrant contact details and we will do the rest. Obviously the earlier we can be advised, the more thorough our preparations can be.
It is also important to recognise that your loved one need not have been an RSL member for a funeral eulogy to be delivered.
Eulogies are tailored to the category of membership of the deceased, i.e. there are differing eulogies delivered for;
- For Service members of the RSL and those non-members eligible for Service membership.
- For Affiliate Members.
- For Women’s Auxiliary members.
The eulogy reference is the RSL document titled “Funeral Rituals for RSL Members“.
