Welfare Community Support

The Waverley RSL Sub-Branch Inc. is a community-focused organisation with a commitment to the welfare of veterans and widows and work within the local community. The RSL has a 90 year tradition of caring for our veterans and their dependents. In recent years, the Waverley RSL Sub-Branch has expanded its welfare work by providing resources for the less well-off in our community

We are very mindful of our ageing veteran community and we are committed to ensuring that the best possible assistance is provided to our members whether they be in their own homes or residential aged care facilities.

The Waverley RSL Sub-Branch’s ongoing commitment to supporting the youth of the Monash community continues. Each year through student welfare Co-ordinators at local primary and secondary schools the Sub-Branch allocates funds to provide financial assistance with educational costs for disadvantaged families.

Waverley RSL Sub-Branch Inc. has a team of dedicated volunteers who can:

- Visit sick members in Hospital and at Home;

- Support members in Nursing Homes;

- Support and assist during times of Bereavement.

Assistance is also provided with referral to appropriate support agencies, for example:

-  Respite Entitlements

- Veteran’s Home Care

- Community Nursing

- Community Care Packages

Visitation Program

This program is an important link to our veteran and war widow community and enables us to support and assist those members who are feeling alone or isolated.

Social Outings

The focus of these outings is to assist our members who are socially isolated or living alone. Monthly bus outings are conducted in our mini bus on a rotational basis to places of interest. Members wishing to be included in these outings should contact the Community Support Office or our receptionist for more information.
